I have a Xircom CardBus Ethernet 100 + Modem 56 (Modem Interface) on a Libretto 110CT sub-notebook. I was excited to find Martijn Coenen's driver on BeBits, and I was thrilled when it worked. But I've got a
problem.

It will not work now. I'm baffled, can't figure out what I may have changed that caused it to fail. But it works with Windows 98SE, so I know that it is not a hardware problem. After installing the driver, I get an icon on the desktop "EnableModem.sh." When I double-click on it, I get the following in the Summon terminal window:

>Welcome to the BeOS shell.

>Failed to open the kernel driver, exiting.
>Linked /dev/ports/obserial to /dev/tt/p1
>Cardbus Serial Modem Driver starting . . .
>(c) Martijn Coenen 2001,2002

Do you have any suggestion on how to get it working again? And will
this driver work with Zeta or Dano or Bone-7a?

Thanks.

Stan

I would be glad you got it to work in the first place. Whoohooo! Not a lot of people have any luck with a PC cards.
Well. If you have the original install zip file for the driver than you better save it to two or more floppies or CD's. Seems it is hard to find. There was a source version that one could use to build the driver. It will only work on R5.0x and not any of the R5.1 stuff. I would then try to remove the driver by either using an uninstall if provided or see what the install does and reverse that. Then do a reinstall of the driver. Now as to why it doesn't work now is a mystery. Your files might have errors or some new hardware has changed how beos sees the machine and now chooses different irq's and memory. You might have to do a clean install. It looks like the authors might be on sourceforge and you could email them or use beshare to ask for ideas in realtime.
