I have Window 98 on my computer but since last week I had a problem.There is no problem while on internet but when I try to open the icons of MY COMPUTER,MY DOCUMENTS and RECYCLE BIN a message of ILLEGAL OPERATION appears,to get rid of this problem I formatted and reinstalled the window but I couldnt get any solution please help me in this regard. Thanks.

Could this be a problem of HARD DISC or RAM or DRIVERS .

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you're using Windows 98, why are you posting to the BeOS forum?

My suggestion to you is, if you know anything about computer hardware, not software, you should take it apart to see if you have maybe bumped the machine and knocked a jumper loose, try putting some new memory in, if that dont help, try getting a better operating system, I suggest buying a Mac, or installing Windows NT (NT 4, 2000, XP) cause everyone knows Windows 98 is one big f-u-c-ked up operating system, I have always had problems with it, try upgrading to Second Edition. If none of this helps, I dont know what to tell you,
