Which BeOS?

I'd like to install BeOS as the only OS on one of my older PCs. I'm looking for an alternative OS to M$ garbage. I have BeOS 504 Dev Edition installed, but I'm having problems getting anything to work. Which version of BeOS is best to use?
My existing problems begin with an error message that tracker failed to start, will be terminated, and cleanup to commence. Then I receive no response when selecting items on the start menu,,, Any thoughts??

I have never tried that version but have heard a few people complain about the updates that were put it to try and help but may not work on their system. It maybe that you have a bad download or something else wrong there. I guess I would suggest that you maybe get the free PE version from Bebits and see if that is any better. BeOS works on a lot of machines and quit fast too. If PE works then if you want to you can try the Pro version or get the leaked (but everyone has it) Dano and try that. Gobe has an office suite that is very good. It sort of looks plain until you really work with it.

Well, I'm a lot closer to a usable OS. I have Dano installed and mostly configured. I can't configure my network card. I don't have 'Network' as an option under 'Preference'. I'm using a 3Com 10/100 PCI NIC. Is that a possible problem?
