I am in BeOS kindergarten. Have installed RH ver. 7.0 and know want to install BeOS. What partition do I install it in, or should I make a new partition, and is there a standard name for a partition containing data? Since I am also just learning Linux, in what partition should 3rd party software be installed? Thanks for your responses in advance.

I suggest that you get the linux personal edition from bebits.com. It will install to a file on your ext2 formatted system. It will be a virtual file system that you can use a beos boot floppy to boot into.
A Pro edition or a dev cd, that you made, will allow you to install to any partition. Be careful because linux wrecks your partition table. Study up to be sure you don't install over the swap or data part.
