Reply: (edit)Sorry a lot jefro. I was trying to bring some questions about BeOS, but the subject field doesn't have space enough. Well, i was thinking: BeOS PE R5 wont go get work in others (sorry my knowledge, try to translate it...) plataforms, beyond intel p3, or maybe p4, but and the new processors? BeOS PE R5 (.0.1 and .0.3) will work with? If not, like ("sounds...") that BeOS (the REAL REAL BeOS) wont go in front of (obviously, Be isnt the developer anymore...), it wont go be the end of BeOS, like it is known, a very good media os? Well, i see (i dont know if they are only) the OpenBeOS: How could they think that a OS made with the kernel of Linux be the continuation of Be?????? i see it like lindows, that is a OS that isn't a OS, is a 3rd OS only made for "emulate" windows and linux... how a OS made with a kernel of linux be the media OS? And, about B(lue)E(yed)OS. This i thought that has my aprovation(well who i'm thinking that i am for aprovate something in the BeOS world...(a new user a few disgusted but very excitated!)) because, sounds like Windows ME and Windows XP home. they are different but are the same os. Well, my question is: After the total incompatibility of BeOS PE R5 with the new systems, BeOS will be dead or not???????????(please, read my litle "article" before, dispend some time with this new "tryer" user!)

Reply: (edit)JotaPe, Forgive me if I did not understand everything you are asking. I think you are trying to ask if BeOS will be compatable with new computer hardware. As new hardware is released, people find ways to make BeOS compatable and work. For example, I built a new computer with an AMD XP1700 processor. BeOS Pro 5.0 is not compatable with that processor without being modified. But after the kernel has been changed, the OS runs very well on the new AMD processor that was not available when 5.0 was released. As for the newer versions of BeOS that are being worked on, I think that Zeta looks very promising http://www.yellowtab.com although I have not kept up with OpenBeOS or BlueEyedOS to see how they are progressing. So to answer your question: No, BeOS is not dead, it can be changed to work with new hardware and will keep working as long as people make changes to it to make it compatable. Best, Cliff
