Unable To Find A BeOS Volume To Boot

Comment:
After installing BeOS and then trying to load it, I get a Panic screen that says: Unable to find a BeOS volume to boot from. It says you can do this from the CD, if you hit space during the boot sequence, but this doesn't work. Any ideas?

To help we might need more information. Which version? What kind of computer and hard drive? How did you install it? ect.

Is the 4400 a pentium 4? I don't think that is the trouble but could be. http://www.beosbible.com/R4.5/print.html#icons lists what point the boot is stopping. Usually the beos file called image.be is located under c:\beos I think. It may be that the ATA controller isn't supported. Can you press the space bar as soon as you see the blue boot screen. It should show you some options that you could try. Most complaints have WindowsXP installed on a NTFS partition. It seems that the XP version is made to take over the complete system. Try to use disk tools on XP to make a new partition in FAT and then copy the image.be over to it using the path that was installed.
