Last night I finally got this system working: Running RobinHood, PHP and SoundPlay, I have a website that lets you navigate my mp3 directory structure, and choose songs to play. When you click a song link, the PHP exec() command is used to send a BeMessage to SoundPlay (via the "Hey" program). The result is that you are able to make your BeOS machine play songs from a web browser.

I did this because I wanted to control my music from anywhere on my LAN. Although most of my music files are on my windows machine, I like the way SoundPlay plays them better, so I just use cifsmount to mount the windows music share on my UserBootScript.

You can check it out at http://63.170.139.206:4480 if you're interested. I hope to make it modular with a parameters file & submit it to BeBits, it'll be my first contribution!

I know that Marco (the SoundPlay writer) has a webserver-style plugin for SoundPlay, but it requires doing this huge databasing of your mp3's all over your hard drive. This requires no such indexing, just uses scripting to read the directories...

Anyways, just thought I'd share, thanx for readin'...
