I am making a peer to peer connection. The server has 2 nics one for connecting the cable modem and the other to connect to the second computer which also has a nic card. I built a crossover cable and connected the two computers with eachother. The thing is non of the nic's lights turn on, on either of the computers. I know the nic cards are working because i cna connect the cable modem to all of them and navigate through all of them. I supposed it could be the RJ45 connection so i did a new one. IT still didn't work so i thought maybe the cable was broken so i bought a new one. I built the new cable and still it is as if there is no cable at all. I know the RJ45 config is correct so i'm very lost here.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Benjamin

If one assumes that there are two computers connected via a crossover cable connected to two correctly installed nic cards using a standard tcp/ip software then it should work. Where is the trouble. You have stated the cable has been replaced twice. Unlikely that two are bad. The NIC cards are supposed to work. What is left is the config I think. When you connect the two computers can you use the ping command? The computers should have IP address assigned by you if you are on a local lan. Do not connect it to the internet if you are not assigned a number other than test numbers. For this you could use 10.10.10.1 and 10.10.10.2 for the NICs that connect computers. If you can ping then tcp/ip should work. By the way, what does this have to do with beos? (:
