I am experiencing difficulties with my Soundblaster Live Value aswell. When running under Windows 95 there is no problem. But under Windows 98 it dosen't seem to record from a mic, also it seems to crash the system when I try to run cakewalk 9.0. I am trying to find updated drivers specifically for Windows 98 because I am still running from a Win95 driver disk, I expect that is the cause of the problem....

If anyone can help me in locating the Win98 drivers then please contact me. if anyone else is experiencing similar difficulties also let me know.

Cheers.

Mike.

here's what worked for me:
-double click the volume icon to open the play properties box
-click on properties, then options, and then click on the recording button below the playback button (it should be on playback right now), click OK
-raise the microphone level up and check it's box
Hope that helps!
Glen

I had a huge problem w/my SB-Live Value...

It works fine in Linux and Win98 -- but when I tried to install WinXP, the setup wouldn't even start... it would just hang at "Inspecting System's Hardware Configuration..."

I took out the SB-Live Value and the install went in flawlessly... Had the same problem attempting to install Win2K.

... Just got back from the store... bought a $15 snd card --- works fine...

Very Disappointed in Creative Labs.
I know it's probably some IRQ conflict or something, but why shouldn't PNP work that out?

Hey guys:
I am also having a great trouble using soundblaster card. I have got a cable modem, and it has some sort of conflict to my sound card. When I use Win98, the sound card is working, but system can't detect the cable modem (therefore couln't install it) and when i use the WinME, both can be installed, but once a run a program(game or software) , the blue screen jumps out and says some rubbish, so i can do nothing but go online ask for help. I think i need a SoundBlaster liveVALUE WinME driver, probably that will help.(but couln'd find) If anyone knows how to solve my pro,or met the same sort of pro, pleaz contact me. my e-mail : Steven_bear86@hotmail.com
CHEERS.

i'm running WinXP and i just got a Soundblaster Live card. It installed fine and i updated the driver from creative's website. i have my 4 speakers and the sub hooked up to it. when i first turn on the computer, only the front 2 speakers work. the rear 2 are dead. i have the "4-speaker" option set in the audio properties. the only why i can get all 4 speakers to work is to open the audio properties and change the speaker selection to something like 2 speakers or 5.1 speakers and then switch it back to 4 speakers. any ideas why this happens or how i can fix it? thanks!

I have this problem with my SB Live Value card. I can't play my 3D games for more than a couple of minutes. And then all of a sudden my Pc freezes. And the sound is a continues peep.

But not when I play mp3's, movies or any 2D-game.

Hello!!

I have a little problem with my CreativeLabs SoundBlaster Live! model CT4760 and my nVidia RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro.
Both of them share the same IRQ (IRQ 9) and my SoundBlaster doesn't work properly, I'm using Windows XP Professional Edition.

When I'm using Windows Millenium Edition, it assign IRQ 10 to my SoundBlaster Live! and IRQ 11 to my nVidia RIVA TNT2, and with this configuration, the both devices works properly without any error.

When I try to play any sound, the sound doesn't play or raise a error "Unable to initialize sound card driver".

My question is: how can I set different IRQ for the two devices, as the same way that Windows ME, or do you know how to solve this problem?

Thanks for your help.

I hate Creative Labs!!

I can't use the microphone when I'm on the 'LiVve.com' audio chat service!

I can record from the mic within Windows XP- but it won't work at all online. Could this be a codec problem?
