How do I network just Win2k and BeOS? How do I share Win2k's DSL access with BeOS? I have a nic in both machines. Nic shows up in BeOS network thing. I have the beos pro edition and decided to follow the instructions but it didn't work. Anyhelp would be very welcome. Oh btw does any one know why bootman won't boot winxp?
Thanks

Win2000 and WinXP are based on Windows NT boot system. In that system, boot files and boot sectors are written onto partition C:, no matter where the Windows 2000/XP itself is installed. Therefore, in order to boot Win2000/WinXP, you have to set up the Bootman to boot the C: drive, and from there you have to use Win2000/WinXP built-in boot manager. Yes, I mean - you have to have 2 boot menus: bootman (to boot the C: boot sector) and Win2000/WinXP boot loader (to continue and load the operating system itself).

Now - to the DSL connection sharing.
First of all, check if your DSL connection is shared by your Windows. If yes, set up your network card in Windows box to use a static IP (for example, 192.168.0.1, subnet mask 255.0.0.0). On the BeOS computer, set up the network card to use IP address from the same newtork (for example, 192.168.0.2 with subnet mask 255.0.0.0) and set the IP-address of your first comp (192.168.0.1) as default gateway. Use a network cable to connect these two cards.
In BeOS' Network preferences, fill in the host name (doesn't matter what you write there), domain name (your provider's one) and both DNS addresses (should be supplied by your Internet Provider).
That's all. I succeeded to connect to Internet this way.

Still unsuccessful. I've tried for months now and nope can't share my connection with BeOS. The same machine has QNX, FreeBSD and Mandrake installed. All 3 use dhcp easily but beos won't. I tried to set the ip's statically but that didn't work either.
Question: Does the gateway on the windows machine need to be set and if you are assigned a dynamic ip?
