Checking Frizbe.net I noticed that my Omnibook 5700CT was listed compatiable. I was able to load BeOS 5 Pro on this clunker of a laptop using the Safe Mode settings: "Don't use BIOS" and "Fail-Safe Video" Mode (800x600x16).
My question is this: Is there anyway to default BeOS to boot without using the BIOS and in Fail-Safe mode?
Currently, I have to hold down the spacebar and set the "Don't use BIOS" and "Fail-Safe Video" tabs everytime I boot. If I could set Be to boot right up, that would be a lot better.
I realize this laptop is a little old for BeOS, but it's nice to have BeOS on the go...
Other Info:
Processor: Pentium 150MMX
RAM: 128MB
Video: Cirrus Logic CT65554 (VESA/Fail Safe)
Audio: Crystal Audio (not working)
OS: BeOS 5 Pro (straight from Gobe)I haven't tested any PCMCIA cards yet either.
If you have any advice on the boot thing, I'd appriciate it. I've never had to deal with boot issues on my desktop, so these laptop booting procedures are new to me.
Thanks for any help

Well, after searching around for most of the day, I found my answer at BeTips.net, although I have yet to try the modifications.
"Make boot options permanent" by Mr. Scot Hacker himself. Great tip.
http://www.betips.net/chunga.php?ID=332Another useful one for laptop users:
"Power off on shutdown" (also by Hacker)
http://www.betips.net/chunga.php?ID=339The power off tip is also key for Omnibook 5700 users as the floppy drive blocks the hard power switch on the side of the unit (I was just unlugging the power cord and battery to power off.. this tip will help).
I'll have to put detailed instructions on my web site (once it is back up) for the procedure if it works.
