Router makes Connection SLOW!!!!!

i have 3 computers wired to a linksys 4 port router. i have sbcyahoo and the connection is fine. when 2 computers are online, it works great. but when the 3rd jumps on in, it slows the connection and we have mental break downs. it's basically slower than a 14.4 bps modem. what can i do to solve this problem. it really shouldn't do this because it is made for 4 computers. can i do something with the IP or anything? or should i buy a different router. PLEASE HELP!!!
