Recently I lost my system due to a virus attack.I had been running BeOS 5.0.3 before the attack. Now when I have reinstalled BeOS,I am unable to get my onboard SB16 working unlike earlier, even after I had tried swithing off PnP in the bios and installing the drivers available on bebits,Can someone please help me get my sound back?

An you put the update back in so that the bemenu/
about be reports R5.03? Some say the update is how
some sound is fixed. You might have to move cards
around to get an IRQ or something to assing or load
differently. Take all excess cards out and disable
usb and try to reboot and see of you get sound.?
What does media prefs say> Any audio there? Check
volume while you are there too.

Thanks for replying jefro,I checked the media prefs but they do not detect any line in or line out device. In the devices panel I have four listings of cmi8330,the last one being disabled by the system. Also there is no report of any resource conflicts.I even tried turning the volume to full. When I try using the midi player it gives the error message that no audio hardware was detected.

Dude, BeOS is obviously not your only operating system, cause as far as I know there aren't any Be viruses in existence.
I bet it was Windoze where you got the virus.
It's okay, I use Windoze too, but only because I have to. Did you have Be on a separate partition or was it installed alongside Windoze?

Anyways, there shouldn't be any roblems with SB. Could it be a hardware problem?
