I don't know if this belonged here but wasn't sure where else to post it.
I recently bought the following motherboard:ECS P4ITA i850 P4 Skt423 RDRAM ATX Motherboard w/Audio Retail.
I have Windows 2000 as my OS. The problem I am having is about the system clock loosing time. No matter how many times I change it to current time, it eventually starts loosing it, some times off by hours.
This happens even when the computer is powered off, so win2k doesn't have anything to do with it. Some folks suggested to replace the CMOS battery. This is a fairly new computer so this shouldn't have been a problem but to rule it out, I changed the battery over the weekend any way. And guess what, it still happens. The time was off by 3 hours this morning.
I am clueless at this point. Any suggestion would be highly apprciated.
The rest of the hardware information is below:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor 1.60GHz 400MHz FSB Socket 423 (No RDRAM Memory) Retail
256 RDRAM
Maxtor 40gb HD Master
WD 40gb HD Slave
ATI Radeon 64 MB Video Card
DVD/CDRW/Floppy/ USB Keyboard /USB optical mouse

If it loses time when the PC is turned on, there is too much crap running on your PC. Turn off stuff that loads on startup that you don't need. If the PC runs 24/7, reboot once or twice a day.
If the time loss occurs when the PC is powered off, it's definitely the CMOS battery.

We have a windows 2000 machine that has also begun losing time. sometimes as little as 40 minutes in a week (last week), sometimes as much as 36 hours over a weekend (this past weekend).
We have already replaced the motherboard battery.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Pan Walker
