am on a LAN, and have internet access through it. So I thought to get it working with Be.
Firsly though, I can't get my card working in Be. It recognizes the card alright, and I have set it to the right memory range, the correct irq, the right I/O ,and I have typed in gateway, DNS, IP and subnetmask. However, all I get when I try retsarting networking is 'A network device(0) failed to initialize' ..maybe it doesnt say initialize, but something in its proximity :)
The thing is , I don't know what port to set for the networkcard. Port is tied to IRQ, yes ? Maybe I am wrong. Anyway, please help!

What card is it?
If it is a 3com 905(pci) should not be a
problem...if it is a 509b (even tho it is
supposed to be supported...you are hosed.

Any questions?

Thus is my experience 509 in windows, np;
slackware linux, np; Beos, yeah, right.

Hi,
I have a Intel ether express pro 10/100 card pci(eepro10/100). OS is recognizing the card and am able to give all the ip, dns, netmask, etc. I am able to ping self-ip but not able to ping other hosts. Error Message like network down or no network available is shown.
I am breaking my head for this problem from past 2 weeks. Please HELP me out :-((

First you need the IRQ en IO adress. If you Have the installation disk for that card, sometimes there is a diagnostic program wich can tell you this information. It runs under DOS.
Maybe an otherway is to run your PC underwindows and ask what IRQ and IO is used.

Then under BEOS you can define the ethernet card with the same values.

Let me know if you are succesfull.
