CPU/Ram: P III 1 GHz/512 Meg

I recently replaced the Sony 52x IDE CD-RW drive in my BeOS PC with a Lite-On SOHW-1693S DVD+/-RW drive. Now BeOS freezes on boot. The 4th icon changes color, but the 5th does not. I can boot by using Safe Mode and disabling User Options, or by going into my PC's BIOS and disabling the Lite-On drive. Anyone have a solution for this?
