I need to instal BeOS onto a laptop that I can boot the installer to but after that it can no longer see the CD drive, it just hangs informing me to insert the Beos cd. I currently have the laptop's harddrive plugged into my main PC to reformat and repartition it. Is there a way I can create a BFS partition on the Laptop harddrive from winXP Partition Magic 8.0 can't.

No. A BFS formatted drive still will not help.

There is a wiki at bebits that might help.

It sounds like you have an older computer with a CD drive that doesn't like burned CD's. You might try maxtor's black Cd's. They work on almost any old machine.

Might see is anyone near you has a Pro CD that you could try as it is stamped.

Well it has worked fine for years with all other burned CDs I've used, what I was trying to do was format a Harddrive in BFS use Bewrite to write the disk image to a 600meg partition and put the harddrive back into the laptop. The installation program boots fine but then it hangs telling me to insert the BeoS CD but never spins the drive up.

Did you see the wiki?
If you only have a 600 meg maybe I'd use a virtual partition.
From ITO's web page. "It would run with R5(PE,Pro) but will be unnecessary because you can install the Personal Edition easily instead of sticking to installation from CD-ROM."

Basically I want to copy the CD image to the HD so it can be read by the Laptop that can't see the CD after it starts the Beos installer. Beos has a install from HD options I just need to get the files there

What I have done before is put on a clean formatted fat disk the file image.be under /beos/ then use a boot floppy to boot to beos.
