Hello,
My workplace was retiring some old (ok, really old) pc's that were slowly relegated to print server duty over the years, after their heyday as the company's web servers. They were going to junk them, but then decided to just give them away after some cube slaves (me included) expressed interest in taking them in, if for no other reason then to sell them off on ebay. Anyway, the server I got is based around an Intel L440GX+ motherboard, and I was wondering if this motherboard would be compatible with BeOS R5? Thanks in advance.

My guess is yes just fine.
It is not so much the motherboard chips but the processor. It has to be a true Pentium class and not a clone. There are a few collections of beos. Original R5 (and updated to R5.03) is the basic start for what others have built. See developers edition and max and phos if you can get it. You can still buy R4.5 but is it only for playing.
Almost all bootable beos cd's can be run as a live cd with a few tricks to test if the system will or could be made to work.
This is the old official.http://www.tycomsystems.com/beos/x86_ready.html
This is a community list. It used to work.
