Keyboard not functioning

I have an older computer (see above) and I was thinking about putting BeOS on it. I tried it and the keyboard would lock up. I've heard that BeOS has compatibility issues with PC Chips motherboards (I have the M598LMR). Could this be what is causing the problem?
