I can't get my computer to connect to the internet while in BeOS. My ethernet card is an Intel(R) PRO/100 VE. I've been to bedrivers.com and I can't find the exact driver for that card. Does that mean I won't be able to connect to the net?

Yes, no, maybe?

A driver that might have worked was on Bebits.com.

BeOS boots each time and looks at the hardware device ID and looks at what drivers it has. The driver has to have the device id within the driver file. So one way to get it to work is an edit to the driver close to an older version of the intel card. That patch is on bebits.

Saying that it still may not work. Some versions of Max use the newest network stack while others use the R5.0x. Drivers are needed for each version usually. I say that because Zeta might have a driver for that if you are running bone.

You might also try the Zeta 1.21 live cd. If the network works then you might be able to copy the driver or see if the old driver that was on Bebits can be found on BeShare. Beshare is a beos web sort of like a torrent where beos users can share files or chat real time.

I forget the command line for how to show all hardware in beos. I'll try to find that. It will show you the card, mfg name and card ID that would be needed.

See also devices more info panel it most times shows it there.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

Most people just get a darn near free nic that has a realtek chip on it. I used this for solaris but I'm pretty sure beos will work in it too.

I recommend to install the BONE installer. the card will most likely become of use then. it will probably show up as tulip/0 in the boneyard under interfaces.
