Install Problem

Hello, when I insert my floppy to boot to my BeOS 5 Pro CD so I can install it, it starts but stops at a point, and then keeps checking the floppy, then CD, then floppy, then CD, etc. and says "Please place the BeOS CD in the..." even though it is in the drive. I have a HITACHI CDR-8430 (not a burner) in my IBM IntelliStation. Has anyone had this problem before?

Some older CD drive have touble, I think it is the kind with PIO mode. I have not had tha trouble before. It is saying that it can't find your BeOS CD. Try to start it up in another computer. Either boot from floppy or CD. You may have a bad boot floppy. IF you try it on another machine. Hey, can't you boot from the CD on the IBM. It would have to be real old not to try that. Try that first.

I did try it, it does boot to CDs but not this one for some reason. I tried putting it in my friends computer and it booted from the CD fine though without a floppy. I think there's a problem with my motherbaord because weird things have been happening and just yesterday I got a System Board Failure in the BIOS and it halted the system.
