Hi Everyone,

If BeOS is to become the great OS, that we all would like to have, then let's build a posting thread with details on how to troubleshoote all of those Device Drivers problems. Who knows, BeOS might became the one which everyone will prefer.

Comming from a windows background, my first impressions of BeOS device driver handling is that it could be quite powerfull.

However, I cannot get BeOS drivers to work properly.
List of Problems that I have experience so far:
1- Installed to G drive, and booted from the boot floppy, it crashed with a protection error.
Solution: I re-install it on my C drive.
2- I have tried two graphics cards, ATI 3D Rage PRO and Cirrus logic 5446, I have tried all shorts of drivers without any luck... included the so famous VesaAccepted...

Well It probably even works however I might not be setting this up correctly. some of the steps I tried include remove other pci cards, forcing PCI IRQ assigning, etc...

How can I alter the detected settings in the BeOS device manager, i.e IRQ, DMA, I/O, Memory??? Is there any tools which do this automatic?

3- Tried 2 diferent sound cards, Diamond DT0398 and a brand new Creative SB 16 PCI, and none work, there is default drivers but it only sees part of the resources to use...
In fact the Creative SB 16 PCI, I beleive is an ensoniq chip set(not sure which one).

Please, everyone out there which knows how to resolve resource issues in BeOS, tells us about your experiences here, create documents with screen shots showing detail information of procedures and post them in your web site, with links here for everyone else to learn from your experiences.

Let's make BeOS work for everyone.

Thankx

Me again.
Just took the Creative SB 16 PCI back to PC World, and got a Creative Sound Blaster Live Platinum, and it works perfect in BeOS.
However the resources, in the device manager for BeOS don't shown anything, the only thing shown is the IRQ, nothing else shows.
Odd... But it works fine.
