Comment: How to install Opera for BeOS, which I recently downloaded? I now have a file, "Opera_for_BeOS_Installer-Final.bin", in my Downloads directory, but I am at a loss to know what to do with it. Nothing on BeOS seems to recognize it. Background: I recently, successfully, installed BeOS 5.0 on an old Sony notebook, a PCG 812, which has 233 Mhz CPU, 128 Meg Ram, 4 Gig hard drive. BeOS effortlessly detected my PCMCIA card and my DHCP internet connection. Sound not working yet.

Reply: (edit)Firstly, re the soundcard..go to frizbe.net and look up your model card..theres a lot of third party drivers for cards not supported on the standard installation.. As to opera..the installer should automatically recognize opera's package..if it doesn't, it could be corrupted..don't unzip files in windows..if you dont download them in beos, then use 'save as' when downloading a file.. Meanwhile...browsers.evolt.org has a good copy available (use the U.S. download loocation when offered the choice) and that opera should install just fine (i did last week, in fact)..dont get the beta, but the 'final.bin, or the 'final.pkg' , theyre both the same opera
