Let's see, I've got a boot floppy to get me to the BeOS 5 screen with the icon things that light up and the coloured square in the corner flashing and such.
I've got a CD-RW with the Max V2 IMG burned to it, along with floppyP4.img, burned using the maxp4.cue file. (I was told from the Max forums that I could use the P4 files, it really didn't matter, just to go with the original GifTracker)
So the CD goes in the drive, the floppy gets me to that aformentioned screen, then the icons light up all the way to the one just BEFORE the magnifying glass.
Then my HDD activity light turns on for a bit, then off, the floppy blinks, and repeat for for God knows how long.
At some point it asks me to insert the CD, which I do, but it never acknowledges I don't think, just keeps up the routine of alternating LEDs.

Humm?
See if you can get the BeOS PE version from bebits.com to work first.
Dunno if a K5/ 166 is really a full pentium. No report of it working at frizbe.net either.

I just learned the K5 is considered a 486 by BeOS and it requires a 586 compatible (AKA: Pentium) to work.
