I have a PCI hardware modem by US Robotics. I thought it might be a software modem since it wasn't supported by BeOS, but US Robotics and Dell insist it is a hardware modem. It does work with Windows, QNX, and there is an experimental Linux driver.
My point is, have you checked FrizBe to see if your modem is supported by BeOS at all?
If not, you do have options: 1) Buy a different modem :( 2) Use a different OS to access the Internet - such as Windows or Linux :)
Best Luck, and why not post and let everyone know what you found out. -Bob
The simplest solution in many cases might be to avoid using software-based modems altogether. I know from experience that this has made *my* life easier!
If you are using US Robotics 56k Message Modem, use like this:
1)Install the drivers of windows 2000
2)Whenever you "On" the computer, switch on the Modem, then above Modem will work fine in Windows XP.
3)If you've already "ON" the computer, click Add Hardware in Control Panel. It will not find out the Modem!!!. Then select hardware is connected option. Click "Next". Select US Robotics 56k Modem from the list maually. Click "Next". Your Modem will work fine in Windows XP.
Good luck for buying it. That's what I am doing for buying it!!!
