Comment: I just installed BeOS on top of 98se and it does not seem to work correctly. When I dounle click the icon it sends me to a black screen and freezes. I was just wondering if anyone knew what I should do. I am a support tech and I have been working on computers for a long time, but this is my first experiment with BeOS.

Reply: (edit)I assume you're trying to run BeOS PE from within Windows - not a bad way get started. The problem is likely that either your graphics card or processor may not be compatible. Check Frizbe.net for a list of supportted hardware. If the problem is the graphics card, press the space bar as it boots and you'll start in Safe Mode (B/W). Then in safe mode you can install the driver you need from BeDrivers.com. If the problem is the processor, the easiest thing to do would be to use one of the unofficial PE versions, like Max, that has the drivers and patches included. Betips.net is the best place to find out nearly anything about BeOS. Best Luck, Bob

Reply: (edit)I can't even get into the safemode. As soon as I click the icon, it hits a black screen and locks. Is there a version you can get which installs itself on the drive and is bootable. It seems to not want to work within windows. But, you know more than me so i will keep trying what you tell me. thanks
