Reply: (edit)look at bebits for winmodem. I don't think you should do more than get a new modem but by all means try. I have been trying to get "echo AT > /dev/ports/serial3" to work. The trouble is that since no modem is created and hence no serial port #3 made that won't work. Look in /dev/ports for how many serial ports you have. If you only have the one or two that comes with the computer you will need to create a new serial port to connect to the modem. Pretty much zero chance that a HCF will work until someone can make a program that will go between the phone line and your computer and use the modemcard. You need a Universial Asyncronous Reciever Transmitter chip. UART. Most hcf modems can't even produce the tone package by its self. Anyway look at the matrix at Frizbe.net and check out your favorite supply house and get a new modem that will work. Sorry. I don't know enough about computers to make a hcf modem program for beos or I would.

Reply: (edit)Forget it, HFC is a controller-less Rockwell winmodem chipset which is *only* supported under Windows because you need a special driver due to the castrated hardware.

Reply: (edit)Conexant says linux HCF drivers available by 5/02. They are not available at this time. But when available someone can port it to BeOS if they give the sources. http://www.conexant.com/customer/md_driverassistance.html

Reply: (edit)Howdy, Well now Conexant says Summer 2002. Marc Boucher has a great list of HCF/HSF drivers at http://www.samba.org/~marc/dl -- or you can find more info at http://www.mbsi.ca/cnxtlindrv/ But I'm running Debian, so Marcs beta versions haven't been much luck for me so far. If anyone is reading this and has been able to get their Conexant HCF Internal to work under Debian (any kernel), can you let me know where you got the driver from and how you got it to work? Thanks :)

Reply: (edit)I have a HCF Conexant V90 speakerphone modem running under Windows 95. My PC has 2 disks and I want to move the one with Win95 on it to another machine. I have put Win95 on the 2nd disk, but cannot get it to recognise the modem. I have physically removed it, put it back, but the machine doesn't automatically recognise it. On the original disk it's attached to COM3 (even though I only have 2 Com ports) and it works OK. Any ideas what to do????
