Hey
Is there any way of playing games like diablo 2 and quake 2,3 or any game in BeOs as i try to run the exe file that diablo2 has installed and it does not reconise the file extension. So if there is any way of playing diablo 2 in BeOs then please emali me at XoroX@linuxmail.org. (i try to run it from my windows partition from the program files and it doesnt work :( )

You should not be surprised that this does not work. The games you are trying to run are written for DOS or Microsoft Windows.
The problem is not that BeOS doesn't recognize the file extension; the problem is that you're trying to run an executable file that's written for a totally different operating system. The instructions are totally different, the APIs are totally different, the architecture is different... it's a totally different operating environment. This is like trying to make Windows run a program written for a GameBoy (without using emulation). It's a totally different software platform.
Hunt around BeBits.com--it's *very* likely you'll find something there that'll help you. There's loads of emulators and other bits that can allow you to play all sorts of games written for other platforms under BeOS.

ok Thank You But i have looked on bebits and the only thing i have found plays .pcl extensions. Do you have any emulator that you could send me plz that will work on BeOS and run Exes (Xorox@linuxmail.org)
Thank You
XoroX

To run Windows executables under BeOS you would need a complete Windows emulator or similar, and that's not going to happen.
You have to realise BeOS can only run BeOS programs and Windows can only run Windows programs.
It's exactly the same thing as trying to run a Mac program under Windows, won't work.If you want to play Windows games, use Windows.

There is software available that's been available for quite some time (at least as of R4) that allows you to run other operating systems inside BeOS. Check out VMWare and BeBochs. Many people have successfully installed Windows, booted it, and run a variety of Windows applications--including games--all while running BeOS.
XoroX, you may want to try one of these virtual machine emulators. There's no guarantee you'll the games you want working under them, but several people have had success.
Your mileage may vary.
Wildly.

You can run the best adventure game ever under BeOS, Day of the Tentacle that is. :)
You can find the necessary tools on bebits.
Other games by Lucas arts can also be played like Sam'n Max.
There is also a port of Warcraft 2 and Doom runs under BeOS with help. I think Descent can be made to work under BeOS to.Game on :)

The lack of mainstream commercial releases for BeOS certainly contributed to the downfall of Be, Inc. It may be hard for all of you IT guys to hear, but entertainment drives PC sales.
As others have posted, there are some PC games that can be made to run on BeOS. But of the games actually written for BeOS, most are small arcade-types or board games.

-I don't think so. It's Micro$oft who contributed to this :(

Obviously there were many reasons. But I believe if BeOS had developed cutting-edge entertainment software (i.e. games) they never would have gone so silently. Do you think anyone would have bought an X-Box if it only played hearts? Or only played patched Nintendo 64 software? Heck no, everyone would have just kept using their Nintendo machines! What BeOS-only software was better than Windows software?
Obviously, it takes dozens of programmers and millions of dollars to create a hit commercial product. But I guarantee if some must-have game, say Quake 4, was released BeOS-only there would be no shortage of paying BeOS customers!
