Subject: from fdd to scsi boot and install??
OS: BeOS 5 PE
CPU/Ram: Dual P133
Comment:

Hi everybody,

I picked up the idea of installing BeOS again. But unfortunately my object of experimentation is a quite wicked configuration:
I have BeOS 5 PE on a cdrom(the trick to burn it as an image to cd) and a boot floppy. but I have the following system:

Dual(!)P133 on asus board with intel neptune chipset,
adaptec aha1740 EISA scsi controller with a 24x cdrom and a 4,5 GB HDD.
A PCI Matrox Mystique VGA

and 72 MB EDO-Ram.

So how do I manage to boot from the floppy (as scsi is not bootable from cd!!!) and to detect the cdrom drive to continue booting for install and then finally install and run beos from that scsi HDD ???

It's kinda funny that BeOS was originally designed for SCSI-devices, but only comes with IDE drivers now?

This maybe?
Specific SCSI Cards

The following SCSI add-in cards are supported by BeOS:

Adaptec AHA-2940, AHA-2940UW, AHA-294042W, and AHA-3940
Tekram DC-310, DC-390U2B, DC-390F
Diamond Fireport 20 and Fireport 40
SCSI Chipsets

The following chipsets are used on many other SCSI adapter cards, and are used for the built-in SCSI support on many computer motherboards, and are supported by BeOS:

Adaptec AIC-7850, AIC-7870, AIC-7880, AIC-7890 Ultra2, and AIC-7895 and AIC-7896
Symbios 53c8xx
BusLogic BT948, BT958, and BT958D

Might have to make a CD with extra drivers for that card? Check bebits.com and bedrivers
Check Frizbe.net to see if you card works? No report of one.
