Marco, this is the BeOS forum. BeOS. Also referred to as "the BeOS”. That's "Be" as in "Be, Inc." and "OS" as in "Operating System".

I realize the words "BeOS" and "BIOS" are very similar--there's only one letter and a change of case between the two, but they are spelled differently and have quite different meanings, not unlike the words "shot" and "s---" or "car" and "cat".

BeOS is an operating system from Be, Inc. BIOS is an acronym for "Basic Input/Output System".

Don't feel bad. A LOT of people apparently are unable to make this distinction or figure it out from the many messages already posted to this forum. You're certainly not alone. A LOT of people have been mistaking "BeOS", the operating system, and BIOS, the acronym for "Basic Input/Output System". This has been going on since this forum was started.

It got pretty bad a few months ago, when it was happening several times a week. I had hoped that people had started READING some of the posts and paying attention to the all-important difference in spelling before posting to this forum, but apparently not.

It's a shame there isn't a hardware forum, but maybe that'll come some day.

Cheers.
