YOO all you good folks!!

I need help on how to install drivers for my graphics card in BeOS 5 Personal Edition!
When I boot up BeOS using a bootdisk I get a message telling me that my graphics card is not supported by BeOS. Then I click the "more info" button where it says that I should download the drivers from bebit.com and unpacked the file in to "/HOME/CONFIG/ADD_ONS/APP_SERVER" and reboot and select "Safe boot". OK I did this, but I still just get the "card unsupported" message.

In the text file that comes with the driver it says: (Cut & paste from file)

-Double-click on the script 'install-nvidia-driver.sh'
-A diagnostic output window will appear.
-Messages will appear here indicating how installation is progressing.
-Read and follow the instructions in the dialogs that appear.
-When done reading the NVidia-README file (you don't have a choice :-) )
-close the window to continue the installation process.
-Confirm installation by clicking 'Yes' when prompted.
-Existing RIVA drivers will be disabled.
-The new unified NVidia driver will be installed.
-Reboot your system to use the new drivers.

Doubleclicking the .sh just open the file in some sort of texteditor and nothing more!

Am I doing something absolutly wrong or is there another way of doing this??

BTW: The graphics card is a GeForce 2 MX and the driver used is "nvidia-exp-2001_01_04"

Might seem like a stupid question, but I'm a TOTAL newbie to BeOS. I just installed it this Saturday!

Well, I used the same drivers, with the same card, and it worked. The thing I did differently was unpacked to a directory called 'drivers/nVidia Drivers' that I made in my home directory. The .sh file is a script file. When you double click it should run and copy the appropriate files. You can try running it from a terminal window (I'm a newbie too, but if you find something looks like a dos window in Windoze, thats it. Commands are ls (list files) cd (change directory) etc. If something has spaces put the whole line in quotes (but not the cd command itself)) Just typing the name of the .sh file should do it. Then restart. You should get pretty colours and the ability to fry your moniter!

Hope it helps. PS: is your network card working?

O.K guys, I am totally a newbie here so you have to bear with me.
I have recently bought the new Geforce 2 mx card. I installed in my computer, no problem. When I switch the computer on, it comes to Windows 98 SE (normall) then it detects the new hardware and asks me if I want to install the drivers.
I ofcorse say yes. After I install the new drivers it says it has to restart (normall) BUT when it is about to flash to the Windows 98 screen, the screen goes black and freezes.
Can you please help me, I really want this to run, can you email me PLEAE!!

My problem is my tv-out. When I connect it to the TV there are no colours. I have tried to update to the driver 12.41 but still the same. Nothing really seems to work so I hope someone can help me.

Well Stefan,
Do you have the correct SCART cable if some pins are missing it could be that the colors are gone! i had the same with DVD player. I used my video SCART, but with R2 DVD it has no color. You need a SCART with all pins!!
grtz

Regarding the GeForce MX400 card in BeOS, run the install script under terminal.
That should install it ands then you can reboot beos and your card should be recognised.

If you want tv out in beos.. try using BeTVOut from bebits.com

As for getting your modem to work under beos.. well if it's a winmodem then you may not have much support.. try looking under bebits for a winmodem driver (i know there is one) and the instructions to install and hope that it's supported.

Otherwise if it's not a winmodem maybe you are having problems getting it to browse after connecting.. then all you have to do is include the DNS settings in your dial up networking settings. Then it'll work fine.

Good Luck!
