Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone can give me a little guidance on installing drivers... I know it may seem easy to most but I seem to be having trouble with my Soundcard.. it is a sound blaster ct4810 I have found the correct driver, I think and got it to show up in my media settings, I guess my main question/questions when i got the driver off bebits.com the fellow who posted had this note in his file

A lot of users met situation, when card is recognized, but still no sound. In this case

2) additional initialization for AC 97 codec is needed
(Driver is tested on card "Model CT4810 VendorID 1274 DeviceID 5880 RevID 2" with SigmaTel codec STAC9721)

This problem is solved by setting 29-th bit
in status register (BaseIO + 0x4 ) = 0x20000000 before AC97 initialization.

INSTALLATION: run install in Terminal

question one. how do i change the status register as described, and question 2 how do i run it in terminal..
sorry if these questions sound simple but am just new to the whole bescene and would like any help at all if possible

thanks
jeff.

I can say that the terminal is under the Be Menu
and then Applications then choose terminal. It is a
command line like a bash shell. You can use most
linux/unix/posix commands and some dos commands are
put in for ease. You have to change to the correct subdirectory to install programs sometimes. See doc's on that program for command line. usually "install"
I am sure that the easy solution would be to buy
another card. OK money is always tight.
I suggest email the author is an email address is
given and ask for help.
What it may be is the IO range. One might look up
the devices under BeMenu then Preferences then
choose devices. Double click on your sound card and
look at the IO address ????? Do not change unless
this is the solution.
A status register is what holds the last
instruction I think. While the P register is the
the instruction?
