I would like to find drivers for the Xwave sound card marked A571-T20 with an ESS Allegro chip bearing no. ES1989S. I can't even tell what model XWave this is. There seem to be features, e.g., SPDIF Out, labeled on my PCB, but these areas aren't connected to any components or SMD's, so it seems I may not have the top o' the line model.
Anybody know if a driver for this sound card exists for Windows XP?
Seems that Yamaha does not have a driver (that I could find) but if you go to http://www.esstech.com/techsupp/drivers.shtm#pci and download one of the driver for ES1989 Allegro which is the main chip on the board it will work. be careful, drivers are different for windown 95/98 and windows 98SE. Download the right driver. In the .zip file there is a .exe file to install it. I used that rather than the "update driver" in the control panal and it works fine. Happy listening John
WTG John... I just found the same reference driver at the same time I found your post to this long line of queries.
This is obviously a generic sound card marketed by a lot of different vendors... mine is from Digital Research, Technologies and they have no drivers (or even a reference to the board) on their website.
You can find the reference driver for the ESS1989 chipset at Dr. Drivers: http://www.drdriver.com/drivers/search-18-1-16.html or at the ESS Homepage http://www.esstech.com
I concur with James.. my card was a I/O Magic. But is looks the same and had the same fcc id and the SoundWave Pro 2000 from SIIG: http://siig.com/products/sound/index.html
Near as I can tell, the Version 1 is two channel and the Version 2 is four channel.
Of course this still doesn't help fahed(see the first post). I have not seen a driver for BeOS yet. I'm betting you will be luck to find a generic ess 1989 driver for BeOS.
