I have the free personal edition of beos. Ive installed it several times and cannot figure out how to make it work on the internet. I have a dsl connection through a usb port . Its a linksys usb and any help would be appreciated
Have you checked whether your modem is supported by BeOS? That would be the first step. The Frizbe website maintains a hardware list for BeOS compatibility. WinModems, for instance (as well as my PCI hardware modem) aren't supported by BeOS.
The next step would be to check BeTips for hints or instructions - that site has notes on just about everything.
If these don't help, by all means post again here.
Lots of Luck, Bob

Search the web for a usb to ethernet beos program I know some guy has one and it is supposed to work. Bebits may have it? What I think is that you may not have a working usb port. Beos PE supports only UHCI usb chips. If you have an OHCI chip then you need to get a version called dano.

Summary: Be is quite gone, except for the lawyers. I recently loaded a copy of 4.5.2 onto an old Power Computing box, and am setting it up. You can download a copy from http://www.tucows.com look under their B...
