I dont know the password to get into CMOS to deal with this, consequently 'puta won't boot. Someone suggested 'flashing' the CMOS to reset it? any thoughts?
PSs. It's not nicked, just third or fourth hand so I don't have any manuals etc.

You should never have to flash your system's BIOS to reset the date and time. This really doesn't make a whole lot of sense, as the date and time are stored in NVRAM and your BIOS is stored in a separate EEPROM chip. (In some systems, the RTNVRAM and so-called "flash" BIOS might be contained within the same physical package, but they are quite separate logical entities with different functions.)

If you need to set the date and time, just use your Time preferences applet and set the date and time.

If these settings aren't retained in NVRAM, it's probably time for a replacement battery.
