Anybody any ideas about this one. BeOS Personal running happily inside Windows so I downloaded Developer. CD boots a "standard" PC but won't boot my ThinkPad 600X. 98SE, 2000, Linux no problem. Just off to check for BIOS updates!

I wouldn't put a bios update if most things work. Check the comments on your ibm bios update and see if anything would change that matters. The only thing I can think of is maybe some older CD drives don't read burned CD too well. Even if they read on other machines some of the pigment or dyes are just a bit off from one CD or CD company to the next. Find a CDR that works in your laptop if any. CDRW's tend to be even lower in the difference between marks and spaces.

Latest BIOS already installed so that was a non-starter. Thanks for suggestion but I have tried it with two different makes of DVD drive, both manufactured late '99, so not convinced. Also, Personal Edition can read the CD (R). Got a CD writer coming in a week or so so I'll try that.
