hiya~! :) does anyone know where i can locate the so call pentium 4 kernel_intel.patch thingie for beos r5? i cant seem to boot up my beos and it seems that this should be the prob... tried locating it on the web to but nothing pops out from the search engine ... anyway thanx and happie days

Try BeBits (US) or BeZip (German). There is also a great site, BeDrivers, that has links to drivers at many sites.

thanx a lot for ur suggestions ... visited all the sites u mentioned, even russian sites, german sites, tucows, be..., everything i can ever think of ... kekek ... but it seems like there are a lotof athlon xp patches but never the intel one ... one nice guy actually pointed me to a site www.beos.ru/files/files/p4kbeos.zip ... but i think it aint there anymore .. =( anyway i will keep it up ... i wont give up ... but i actually thought the internet was a great place to locate stuff ... not until now ... hahaha ... thankz again

I went to that site a few days ago and it did download the patch. I read the setup instructions and you will have to be able to boot to a working machine to put the patch it. Yikes! I suggest that you go to purplus and get the R4 version as I tested it on my wifes's P4 1.3g and it loaded up to the setup screen. My R5 didn't go past icons so I think you could do a basic install with the R4 and then update to the R5 and then add the patch from the working R4. Purplus has/had R4 for cheap too. Sad thing is that the newer P4's seem to work fine.

serious? well i must be unluckie then ... seem to be looking for the thing at the wrong time ... haha .. anyway i tried a r4 and the unified nvidia drivers dont seem to work for that release.. in fact the boot up toggle menu has less features to enable VESA mode .. so i decided to download the r5PE instead ... well wish me luck as i try to download the patch again .. kakak .. thanx

If you can get any sort of working BeOS going then it should be easy to update it. I didn't think about the fewer safe boot options though or nvida cards. Huh? Sorry. I don't think you have to correct site? files/files? http://www.beos.ru/files/p4kBeOS.zip
