Reply: (edit)Anything is legal until you get caught. I am not a Scum sucking lawyer but you may need to have real legal advice to answer that. It is not GNU as I understand, and is a copy protected data product. I am not the owner of it and I am not for sure who is. I suspect that somewhere between Palm and Be and the stock holders are the owners.

Reply: (edit)Hi Jefro, had a day off I see. :) I don't know whether or not the customizations made to Max are GNU or not. But it's based on BeOS PE which is clearly ~not~ GNU. BeOS PE is the property (including the name) of Palm, Inc. and the PE liscense agreement states that PE can only be freely distributed. So legally, you ~should~ be able to create a distro with PE as the base and offer it as a free download. -Bob
