I have BeOS on another computer and was going to put it on my new one-which is a piece of crap, but shouldn't be- is it still posible to install BeOS for Windows even though it's on NTFS, or will i have to create an FAT partition to install to?

Yes and no. In XP and some 2000 machines the security has changed and you can't use a "virtual file system". The VFS is used on the free PE mostly more for a test.
It would be better to get a version that has the patch for newer AMD's.
I would get either the developers edition or Max beos. It is basically the free PE with corrected kernel for the amd. Amd actually calls itself an intel and it confused beos.
You would need just an unformatted partiton to install max or dev edition.
You really ought to use a fat partiton if you want to use the VFS in PE. *need the kernel edit or just an edited boot floppy.
See betips dot net for ideas and see bebits dot com for apps and dev and max.

OK, thanks i didn't even think to check about AMD compatability. I'll try one of the other versions on a new partition then. Thanks.
