Comment:
I just installed beos personal on a xp pro ntfs file system (c:). I created a beos bootdisk then restarted the computer. It went through the beginning of the setup and then i got an error: can't find beos image. initially i had installed beos to my e: drive then after i got the first message i reinstalled it onto c: and it still didnt work. anyone know whats wrong?
Yep! Microsoft changed the NTFS from version 4 to version 5. It included some improvements and basically locked out other OS's at boot. There may be a way to get around that but no one has told me how. In the mean time you will have to make a fat partition or put in another drive. Sorry. I have been trying to crack that problem too. Something to do with the file structure. R5 will read from a NTFS5 in read only after it is mounted from a running beos. A few claimed they got it to work but not many.
You can download the developers edition of PE from beosonline.com and actually run beos from a CD. It takes a few tricks only and it is slow but will work. There are other ways to make a CD too.
