Hmmm, Silly me forgot to see if a Floppy drive was needed for this OS ... My floppy is broken right now... Is there a way for me to load up BeOS without getting rid of windows, and without a floppy.

Sorry...Idon't think it's possible to initially run the Personal Edition without a floppy, as it's a virtual file that doesnt have it's own partition, but is booted into by the files on the floppy- so in the beginning you need a floppy...once you've booted into it you can use the installer to copy BeOS onto a dedicated partition, during which it copies a proper boot record into the system record, as well as giving you the option to install a boot manager so as you can boot between Windows and BeOS..see, you dont have to get rid of windows...
If it were possible to copy the floppy info onto a cd, you could boot from the cd, but i've tried that and couldn't get the 'make boot floppy'program to write to my cd burner..
hey, c'mon now, fix your floppy...OK? :)
(2 bucks used ina junk shop...- only gotta work once, right?)

Sure, you need to have two files. One is Zbeos and the other is loadbeos.com
From a dos command line (I mean true dos not a shell) you run loadbeos.com and have Zbeos in the path.
You can also take the boot image for the max/dev edition and just use it as track one on a CD and boot it that way. Actually any beos CD that is bootable will allow you to choose the install at boot time with safe mode.

Actually, that's really helpful for me too...i have to reinstall BeOS on a different PC and was wondering what i was gonna do..where do you find Zbeos? I dont recall if i ran across it before. If i remember right, as well,loadbeos.com is also the file you boot in windows to restart into beos, correct?
And hey , CorysProbs...yea, don't give up just yet :)

I put a how to install on wiki.bebits dot com for those that need other ways to install. Hopefully no one changed it too much.

If you were to do a good search of the internet I suspect that you could find old mirrors of be that had Zbeos and loadbeos.com Both come with beos I am pretty sure but that assumes that you can boot.

How about a bootable CD?
