hi im currently using windows and i would like to keep windows but also would like to try beos can i put beos on my d drive and keep windows on c?

You should be able to.
This assumes a few things.
If you have PE (personal edition) installed under windows then just run the application "Installer" and be sure to "install to" to the correct place.
The Pro CD or others like Max or Developer Editon then the installer window should guide you along.

Now you need to have a way to boot. Either make a bootfloppy (makebootfloppy -cd from terminal) or use the bootman bootmanager. (run bootman from terminal or use file fine)

If you choose to run bootman then be sure to make a backup MBR. Better read that again.
