Comment: My sound card, which is a Sonic Impact s70, will work if I use the Maestro-II drivers but it'll squeal, making impossible to enjoy. And now, for some reason, BeOS is constantly crashing, I haven't used it in two weeks. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Reply: (edit) Perhaps you should investigate the possibility of getting an inexpensive (and supported) sound card. Any of the Yamaha YMF chipset based cards are fairly cheap (starting at ~$17 USD) and the sound is really very nice. And they beat the more expensive (and troublesome) Creative Labs/SoundBlaster adapters hands down!
Take a look here for some recommendations: http://www.frizbe.net Hope this helps.... -- The Doktor "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers." - Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943

Reply: (edit) I have to second that opinion. I have a YMF754 card as well, and love it. Everything works perfectly under BeOS, including MIDI. It has a nice, warm sound, and the mixer app that is included is very robust. BTW, if you need further help, please download BeShare from http://www.bebits.com and pop onto the main server at beshare.bentonrea.com. There is always someone there 24/7 who is able to help a newcomer to BeOS. -Chris Simmons Avid BeOS user. stinger@islandtelecom.com
