Comment:
I have installed BeOS on one of my two partitions. The installation was smooth, so was the creation of a boot floppy. But when I try to start BeOS from Win 98, I get the message: PANIC: was unable to mount /dev/disk/virtual/fmap/0/0_0 type bfs on /boot Safe mode and boot from floppy disk don't work either. My config: 10 GB Seagate hard drive, 64 MB RAM, 166 MHz Intel processor...
Not knowing much more about your machine, I can't give you much help, exept that my first guess is that your eide or scsi controller isn't supported. That is why you are getting that kernel panic, is because the boot loader can't see through the controller so it can't read your partitions. It could be something else, but that would be my first guess
