Reply: (edit)Is all your hardware compatible with beos? It almost sounds to me like either your video card or soundcard isnt. Check the hardware list at http://www.be.com/support/guides/beosreadylist_intel.html

Reply: (edit)If it hangs at the fifth icon (the disk icon) you could have several issues that are the problem. First off, if you are in Windows NT/2000/ME, you have to use the boot disk to load BeOS. Secondly, BeOS has to be on the primary boot drive to load (There are ways to get around that but they are tedious), third - if you are still having problems - you should hit the space bar during the boot screen to get to the boot options menu. try selecting the no DMA option. This turns off the DMA disk drive option that is a problem for lots of people. If it boots then go over to betips.net and look up how to make the DMA option a permenant configuration.

Reply: (edit)Hrmm ... mine has just done the same, but I've all of the Safe Mode options with no joy. All I had done was install OpenTracker 5.15 -- might change my video card (GeForce2) to something like an S3 Trio 1MB and see what happens.
