All-

I am installing BeOS for the first time on a multiple OS system. Should I make the BeOS partitions with a different tool other than the BeOS installer.

I have heard if you let the BeOS installer make the paritions and format them that it will erase other partitions existing on the hard drive.

Also, not real sure about how BeOS does it paritioning sounds like it is Unix like and you need a Primary partition and define logical partitions within it.

Can anyone set me straight the claims I am posing above.

TIA,
-mmetzger

The BeOS partitioning tool is very reliable. You only need to format the BeOS partition, not the existing partitions.

BeOS is the most flexible OS I've installed. It requires only a single partition, that can be primary or extended.

Best Wishes,
Bob

Backup data

Backup MBR

I would use ranish at least to check your partitions. I have had beos overlap some partitions. Linux can make odd numbering.

If you have windows xp then make a partition out of unpartitoned space. Then just install beos on that new partiton.
