Comment: i've got installed win98, win2k, linux 5.2, and beos 5 personal edition on different partitions. how can i get linux and beos to show in the win2k boot menu? i know the full version of beos has "bootman", but this one doesn't. i can boot to linux and beos boot disks, but that's the only way. (i skipped lilo during setup and beos can only be started in win98 or with boot disk). any ideas?

Reply: (edit)If you create a seperate BeOS partition you can use the BeOS installer to make an actual installation of BeOS. To do this first create a BeOS partition using whatever partition manager you like (I like Ranish Partition Manager). Then go into BeOS, click on the BeOS button, go to the Applications menu, then select Installer. After doing this you can use BeOS's bootman to setup Be's cool Boot Menu... WOOHOO!!! As for adding it to your startup menu... Good Luck... I played with that for a long time with no avail. The problem, it's an executable that doesn't like to be run from DOS. To further confuse things, Windows 2000 doesn't really even have a DOS mode. So, again, Good Luck.

Reply: (edit) The freeware tool Bootpart from www.winimage.com can integrate Beos and Linux (and other OSes) into the NT Bootmanager. It's a command line tool, but easy to use.

Reply: (edit)If you have a BeOS 4.5 CD, you can use the addbeos utility which will add BeOS to the NT/2000 boot menu. For some reason this utility is not on the BeOS 5 Cd.
