Comment:

I just installed BeOS on a win98 compuer and was wondering how to connect it to the internet through a network. My other computers are windows pc's and my computer with the internet sharing proxy is also a windows pc. I use a proxy because I cannot seem to setup windows ICS with dialup internet service. Is it possible to setup BeOS to connect to a proxy? Also can I access the mp3's and pic's on my windows pc through the network? If so how?

I am doing this from memory while I am at work, and not sitting in front of a BeOS computer, so I may not remember everything exactly, but the configurations are pretty intuative.

First of all, is your NIC supported in BeOS?
If so, go to Preferences/Network and see if it shows your NIC in the network window. Does it say Enabled or Disabled?
Fill in the primary & secondary DNS, and all the fields. Click Settings (or configure) and check the Enable box. Manually input the fields: IP, subnet, gateway, etc.
Like I said, I may not have everything in the right order, but it is all in the Preferences menu under Network.

I can reply with more information once I am at home sitting in front of my BeOS computer.

Best,
Cliff
