At which icon does it stop?
Some hardware of yours is probably unsupported by BeOS. Check www.frizbe.net and their hardware matrix to see if all your hardware is supported.
Do you have an AMD XP processor?

You might be better of running the linux version of BeOS PE. If you have a NTFS5 on your windowsXP it doesn't seem to work for booting. And what mats said. There is a patch in the works to boot your PE if you you have an Athlonxp/mp/Duron7. Check Begroovy forums.

It is the BE Operating System.
It is an interface between machine code and user.
You can change beos by checking Bebits.com for the best rated app, unless you already have BeOS personal editon.
Bios is basic input output system I think. It teaches the computer how to do it's first clock instructions, a simple power test, it checks the first 64k of ram and io's and irq's and perifs like keyboard, floppy, hard drive, ports. (depends on who made the bios and for what computer too) It has just enough info to get a computer to start up another program we call the operating system.
