Hi-

I am running a DHCP Network at home with a four computer setup and Windows 2000 with Be 5 Personal Edition loaded. I loaded the software and worked my way through a video driver problem and a USB Mouse (which is working fine on its normal USB port now in Be). I am now trying to allow BeOS to talk to my windows network. However, my PCI card (Netgear FA310TX) isn't showing up automatically in the Network prefs. The nic card is showing up in the devices as unknown ethernet card. Do I need drivers for it? I thought BeOS supported that card?

Also. How do I get around the problem of virtual memory. I am running in that 500 MB BeOS "virtual partition" that came with the software. When I boot, it tells me I need more hard drive space to create the virtual memory swap file. It needs at least 453MB I only have 300 or so. Can I have a larger partition as the Be drive? If so, would I still be able to boot from Windows or the Boot disk. In actuality, I have a total storage capacity of 20GB. I have about 16GB free in Windows.

I think that the VM problem and the NIC problem are somehow related.

Any suggestions?

Hallo,

I got nearly the same problems.
First you needto know wich IRQ can be used en wich IO adrresses. normal IRQ=3 and IO=220
Please look under windows to find out.
These values must be set with the device settings.
If still problems, most of the time the card support NE2000 aswell, try that one.
Its works on my system. I can connect to home network and go to Internet via a ICS on a windows ME.

Try it and let me know, Adri

Hmmmm, you can install BeOS PE on a seperate partition. Go here http://www.betips.net/cgi-bin/chunga.pl?ID=tip528 to learn how to do that. And to add BeOS to the NT boot menu, go here http://www.bebits.com/app/2333

As far as your NIC goes, I am unsure of that one. BeOS usually recognizes supported hardware right out of the box. You may be right, they may be related.

Hope this helps
